【摘要】:Thesetestmethodsdescribenotched-barimpacttestingofmetallicmaterialsbytheCharpy(simple-beam)testandtheIzod(cantilever-beam)test.Theygivetherequirementsfor:testspecimens,testprocedures,testreports,testmachines(seeAnnexA1)verifyingCharpyimpactmachines(seeAnnexA2),optionaltestspecimenconfigurations(seeAnnexA3),precrackingCharpyV-notchspecimens(seeAnnexA4),designationoftestspecimenorientation(seeAnnexA5),anddeterminingthepercentofshearfractureonthesurfaceofbrokenimpactspecimens(seeAnnexA6).Inaddition,informationisprovidedonthesignificanceofnotched-barimpacttesting(seeAppendixX2),methodsofmeasuringthecenterofstrike(seeAppendixX2).Thesetestmethodsdonotaddresstheproblemsassociatedwithimpacttestingattemperaturesbelow-196C(-320F,77K).ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Inch-poundunitsareprovidedforinformationonly.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificprecautionarystatementsaregiveninSection5.
