【摘要】:Thisguideistobeusedtoassistintheselectionofcontainmentboominaccordancewithwaterbodyclassifications.AsmallnumberofkeyparametersthatgenerallyaffectboomperformancehavebeenusedinTable1,inordertoenabletheusertoreadilyidentifygeneralcriteriaforboomselection.Manyfactors,otherthanthoselistedinTable1,maybeimportantinselectingcontainmentboomforaparticularapplication.Suchfactorsinclude:flotationelementlength,wavelength,theeffectofstrongerthanminimumrequiredstrengthmembers,shockloads,abrasionresistance,stabilityinroll,resistancetobridging,intervalbetweenanchorpointsandhandholds,useofreflectorsorlighting,compatibilitywithfreshorsaltwater,andresistancetosunlightexposure.ThevaluesgiveninTable1aretherecommendedminimumsforgeneralpurposebooms.Asidentifiedin2.3,operationalconsiderationsmayrequiretrade-offsinboomproperties.Specialpurposebooms,andgeneralpurposeboomsusedinspecialcircumstances,mayperformeffectivelywithboompropertyvaluesaboveorbelowthoserecommendedinTable1.Effectiveoperationofoilspillcontrolequipmentdependsonmanyfactors,ofwhichtheprevailingenvironmentalconditionsarejustafew.Factorssuchas,butnotlimitedto,deploymenttechniques,leveloftraining,personnelperformance,andmechanicalreliabilitycanalsoaffectequipmentperformance.1.1Thisguidecoverstheselectionofcontainmentboomthatmaybeusedtocontrolspillsofoilandothersubstancesthatfloatonabodyofwater.1.2Thisguidedoesnotaddressthecompatibilityofspillcontrolequipmentwithspillproducts.Itistheuser''sresponsibilitytoensurethananyequipmentselectediscompatiblewithanticipatedproducts.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
